Health
Health (or HP, short for hit points) is a measure of the amount of damage a hero can take. If a hero reaches 0 HP, they will enter a state called Death's Door. Every time a hero enters Death's Door they inflict stress on the party, and any additional damage has a chance of permanently killing the hero. A hero has to be healed for at least 1 HP to exit Death's Door.
Heroes start every expedition with full health, and enemies' attacks will decrease their health by varying amounts. Various class skills can heal HP during combat, but only Food and Camping Skills are able to heal adventurers elsewhere. Upon completing the quest, the health of all heroes will be restored to full, unlike stress which is retained between quests.
Base HP
Each hero has their own amount of base HP which is increased with Armor upgrades. Base HP can be affected by quirks, diseases and trinkets. Armor upgrades have different scaling depending on the class in question, which in the table below is notated below the HP range.

Healing
Several heroes can heal health during battle, either on any hero or only on themselves. The amount of healing can be changed by trinkets and buffs/debuffs that affect received healing.
During camping, every hero (except Flagellant) has access to a shared camping skill Wound Care, which heals 15% of an ally's MAX HP and cures blight and bleed. Arbalest, Plague Doctor, and Occultist have unique camping skills that heal other heroes, and Vestal can restore HP on an ally who is affected by Mortality debuffs. The Plague Doctor and Flagellant can heal and cure themselves during camping, and Leper can inflict health damage on himself to relieve other heroes' stress.
