Strong drink, a game of chance, and companionship. The rush of life.
~ The Ancestor
Tavern
The Tavern is one of the Buildings in the Hamlet where you allow your Heroes to relieve Stress.

Upgrading the Tavern increases the types of stress treatments and their effectiveness.
Each visit comes with a 37.5% chance of a side effect, which can be either positive or negative.
Detrimental non-quirks (ie. double vision, sluggishly and exhausted) will remain with the character until they are taken on a mission.

Note: Trinkets that can be won or lost in the Bar or Gambling Hall can be of any rarity, from very common to very rare, though it is far more likely to lose common trinkets than rare ones, in the neighborhood of 1% for (very) rare and 2.5% for other rarities.

The game files consider the Music Boxes and Head trinkets as separate from these, so they cannot be won/lost in the tavern.

Cost & Benefit

The different options in the Tavern offer different levels of Stress healing; greater relief comes with a greater price tag. Both the amount of Stress healed and the cost can be improved via upgrades.

Note that the higher Level a hero is (Veteran, Champion), the higher the base costs for treating them.

Gambling

Sending heroes to the Gambling Hall is, in essence, the player choosing to gamble. The hero may lose the player some gold or a trinket, but they also may come back with extra gold or a new trinket.

Trinkets lost can be of any rarity from Very Common to Very Rare, and the trinket that is lost is normally selected at random. However, if the hero is equipped with a trinket when they go to gamble, that will be the item lost (if any).

The positive quirk Skilled Gambler improves the odds of winning (~13%); the negative quirk Bad Gambler increases the odds of losing resources (~12%).
