Enemies (Darkest Dungeon)
Enemies are hostile monsters and creatures that must be overcome by the heroes in order to progress within a dungeon. Different areas of the Estate feature different enemies.
Legend
Enemy abilities are listed below. For more information, consult the Glossary.
Affects Light | Auto-Action | Bleed | Blight | Buff | Buff Passive | Crimson Curse | Debuff | Debuff Passive | Disease | Extra Damage vs Marked |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Guard | Heal | Horror | Mark | Move | Riposte | Special Note | Stress | Stress Heal | Stun | Summons Enemy |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Be mindful that, while some skills have additional effects in higher levels, only effects of the lowest level of the monster's ability are listed below. Also, self effects will not be listed unless they have critical information (such as the self-buff from "Clapperclaw" used by Shambler Tentacles). This is to keep the page easy to read. For detailed information on a specific enemy's skills, check the monster's page.
Monsters that only appear in Veteran or Champion levels will have their names in italic text. Boss names are in bold text.
Any creature that is DLC-exclusive will have the corresponding icon(s):

Common
These foes don't stick to one dungeon, instead preferring to wander around the Estate, and as such, can be encountered in all four main dungeons. Bandits, Cultists, giant bugs, the undead, and other nightmarish abominations lurking in the shadows, can all be found stalling your progress.

Ruins
After the Ancestor's short-sighted revival of the powerful Necromancer and his Apprentices he had just killed, they moved into the Ruins that once housed your family’s lineage. There they desecrated the graves of the soldiers and nobles that once served there, and brought them back as a mindless skeletal horde to serve as their undead army. Now, rumbling halls of the Ruins are overrun by Undead and a group of Cultists have also stake a claim on the Ruins as they listen to the gibbering ravings and terrible predictions of their Blind Prophet.

Warrens
While the Ancestor was trying his hand at blood rituals, he used the ancient Warrens as a dumping grounds for his failures and underwhelming results. The Warrens are now home to the descendants of those experiments called The Swine, a primitive warrior race of pig men whose only desire is to butcher and feed on any human they can get their hooved claws on.

Weald
When the Ancestor banished The Hag to the Weald after being disgusted by her appearance, she began to use her discovery of an odd, parasitic fungus to transform the woodland into something more sinister. Now, the road leading to the town is blighted with a fungal infestation that has taken over the ecosystem, hiding the hordes of zombified victims under the control of the fungus being spread by the witches that serve under The Hag.

Cove
The Ancestor once used the Cove as a means to deliver some of his more controversial artifacts, as well as a location to perform his pacts with the ancient beings in the water when money was scarce. The ancient fishmen that lived there were roused by the activity around their home, making it a habit to sink and kill any sailors that comes near their domain. They have become a threat to the marine shipments of provisions that the Hamlet relies on.

Event Bosses
There are many nightmarish creatures that are willing to stray from their dark pits, waiting for any foolish adventurer to arrive. A rare few have turn their sights upon our Hamlet. While most fiends would be smart enough to realize that assaulting our small but fortified hamlet with an army of heavily armed, well-trained and experienced soldiers, mercenaries, and outlaws would be suicidal, there are two whose wanton greed and lust for gold and glittering trinkets overrides all of their common senses.
These are bosses that can only be fought when certain Town Events occur. Vvulf is fought during Wolves at the Door and the Shrieker can be fought when either Shrieker's Prize or A Thief in the Night occurs.

Farmstead
The only reason why this new source of evil and corruption has not taken over the Estate is because of the Enchanted Stone Slabs on the perimeter of the Farmstead keep this new evil contained. But like all things, it is only matter of time before the barrier is pierced by this terror from the stars.
Bosses and regular enemies from other dungeons will also appear in the Farmstead.

Darkest Dungeon
When the Ancestor finally managed to dig up the Portal under his manor, he was horrified and driven to suicide from the cosmic entity he unleashed. However, some saw this creature as a deity to be worshiped and protected. Now, devoted Cultists patrol the estate, making pilgrimage to join their vastly more powerful brothers and sisters in the manor. There, they give their lives to protect their God and its spawn of fleshy monstrosities.

Trivia
Despite some monsters only appearing in high level dungeons (i.e. Bone Bearer), files containing their lower level counterparts still exist in the game.
