Scarecrows are Husk type enemies found only in the Farmstead.
Behavior
Scarecrows are very unique enemies in that they gain new abilities at later difficulties, and their behavior changes accordingly.
On Apprentice/Veteran, their skillset is very limited, with only Haunting Revelation and Flail the Crops. They are 2x/3x more likely to target marked heroes with Flail the Crops. It cannot use Haunting Revelation twice in a row.
In Endless, Scarecrows have access to two new abilities: Roots, a significant SPD and ACC debuff, and Shard of Growth, an AoE Restoration ability. Roots and Shard of Growth have cooldowns of 6 turns and 3 turns respectively. Additionally, it will only use Shard of Growth when there are at least 3 total enemies on the battlefield.
Strategy
Scarecrows have high dodge and start with two rounds of stealth, making them difficult to attack without first using a destealthing move like the Leper's Intimidate or the Shieldbreaker's Expose. Outside of its evasiveness, it is very weak, with low HP and only mediocre resistances, save for its effective immunity to bleed.
On Apprentice/Veteran, Scarecrows are not that threatening, with only decent blight and damage from Flail the Crops and Horror from Haunting Revelation; their potential damage is still less than the Foremen, and so it can often be more efficient to focus on clearing out the other enemies than spending a turn worrying about the Scarecrow's stealth. Unless you have a destealthing move and an opportunity to use it over another skill, it's often a better use of the party's time to wait out the stealth before cutting it down quickly. That said, if your team is heavy on powerful AoE attacks like Hew or Impale, the party may be able to take out most of the Scarecrow's HP or even kill it outright before the stealth breaks.
In Endless, Scarecrows are much more of a problem as they now have access to Roots and Shard of Growth. Its additional utility makes it more important to kill quickly; Roots is very effective at disabling heroes, and even a single Shard of Growth can make the entire enemy party, including itself, much more difficult to kill, especially as Restoration heals before blight/bleed.
