One of the many hardened bandits, brigands and killers that The Ancestor hired as a mercenary army to retake the Hamlet after the people rebelled against him. Once the Ancestor died and no further payment seemed in sight, those same mercenaries turned to banditry, and they can be found raiding any of the areas surrounding the Hamlet. Expect no quarter from them, and offer none.

The Brigand Bloodletter is a hulking, battle-scarred brute who typically shields his smaller allies. Armed with a vicious cat o' nine tails whip and a deadly flintlock pistol, he is ready to give his enemies deep and bloody scars to match his.

Behaviour

The Brigand Bloodletter is always found accompanied by a Cutthroat and/or a Fusilier (or, on Champion in the Ruins, a Hunter and/or Raider). While his primary role is to soak up melee damage for his allies and soften foes with widespread bleeding, his uncommon but devastating Point Blank Shot can inflict massive damage, even more so with a fearsome critical chance. Furthermore, should his Rain of Whips crit, your party will suffer a lot of stress on top of bleeding. Despite this, it's usually better to deal with the other, frailer bandits first, in order to limit incoming damage: focusing the Bloodletter will just give them time to get off more attacks. Pulling the Fusilier to the front is also very useful: it forces both the Fusilier and Cutthroat to use their weaker abilities to get back into position, reducing their damage potential and buying you time to cut them down. On top of that, attacks aimed at the two front positions such as the Crusader's Zealous Accusation or the Leper's Hew can strike both the Bloodletter and the pulled unit, soon leaving a corpse that can continue to block the Bloodletter from using his Point Blank Shot.

While in Apprentice dungeons, the Point Blank Shot ability will not be used twice in a row. The ability is more likely to be used at the start of the battle (thrice more likely for Apprentice and Veteran dungeons, 5x more likely for Champion dungeons) than afterwards.

Due to his synergy with the Brigand Cutthroat's bleed resistance debuff from Slice and Dice, the Brigand Bloodletter will be more prone to use his Rain of Whips if the former is still alive. The exact chances are, 2x, 3x, and 4x greater chance respectively for each difficulty compared to Point Blank Shot or Punishment.

In Champion dungeons, the Brigand Bloodletter will still have double the chance to use Rain of Whip instead of Punishment or Point Blank Shot even if there are no Brigand Cutthroats left.

Strategy

You are likely to encounter Brigand Bloodletters with one Brigand Cutthroat in rank 3 and a Brigand Fusilier in rank 4. One of the better strategies is to pull the Brigand Fusilier forward, because of the above-average move resist of Brigand Bloodletter, the Brigand Fusilier will be pulled to rank 1 and push the Brigand Cutthroat back to rank 4. Neither enemy has abilities that pose great threat to the player's party in these positions. Doing so will create opportunities for dispatching the Brigand Bloodletter and deny his usage of the Point Blank Shot ability.

Since Brigand Bloodletters are often more resilient than the other enemies, focusing on the rest of the enemies is also viable, assuming that his Point Blank Shot is of no concern to your hero in rank 1.
