Each Region in Darkest Dungeon II ends at an Inn where the party can rest and recuperate. At the Inn, the player can spend Mastery point icon.png mastery points, purchase supplies, and upgrade the Stagecoach before embarking on the next leg of the journey. Each Inn has slightly different effects upon arrival or departure. The Inn is also the only place where Inn Items may be used.

Travelogue

At the Inn, the player may view a Travelogue that describes some of the more notable things that occurred in the region prior—quirks gained, diseases contracted, hero deaths, and so on.

Services

The Inn offers multiple services that the player can utilize to improve their Hero's relationships, abilities, and Stagecoach. They can also have their Hero's eat food and purchase items for use in the rest of the Expedition. Combat Items, Inn Items, and Stagecoach Items are all sold here.

Region Selection

Region Selection

The player will be given a choice of the next Region to traverse, out of a list of two to three choices. Regions aside from The Sluice will have both a modifier and a goal listed.

Embarking

The embark screen for The Tangle

Once a region is selected and the player is ready to continue they will be given the option to Embark. This will take them to an Embark screen where the player will be given the chance to see what Relationships their Heroes have formed. From here the player can then select to progress the expedition.

Ending the Expedition

While at the Inn, the player may elect to abandon the expedition. While this counts as a failed expedition, ending the expedition at the Inn has fewer negative consequences than abandoning in the middle of a Region or dying in combat—Heroes with Memories will retain them, and will reappear at The Crossroads at the beginning of the next expedition.
