The Oblivion's Rampart is a node that appears at the end of every region in Darkest Dungeon II except The Sluice. Each Oblivion's Rampart consists of single combat encounter with Cultists, almost always including a Cultist boss, serving as a final test that the party must pass before reaching the Inn and continuing to the next region.

Along with Oblivion's Ingresses, Oblivion's Ramparts are the main locations where Cultists may be encountered. However, unlike Oblivion's Ingresses, Oblivion's Ramparts are mandatory: the party cannot choose to flee from an Oblivion's Rampart and must successfully complete the combat encounter in order for the expedition to continue. Also, unlike Oblivion's Ingresses, whose combat encounters are randomly generated, each Oblivion's Rampart is predetermined by the Confession and the Region in which it appears—for example, from the third Confession onward, the Exemplar will always appear at the end of the third region.
