The Lost Crusade is a quest exclusive to 
The Binding Blade DLC that unlocks the Crusader as a playable hero.
Quest Guide
During the course of The Lost Crusade, the party will recover a sequence of items bearing clues about a lone surviving knight, rumoured to be the last of his kind. Each new quest item will require the party to travel to a particular region or encounter, and the entire quest will likely require multiple expeditions to complete. Progress is saved between expeditions—at beginning a new expedition the party will automatically receive the most recently discovered quest item(s).
The Battered Helm
If The Binding Blade is installed, the party will receive the Battered Helm upon arriving at the first Inn. The Battered Helm is a trophy that must be equipped in order to begin, or continue progress on, The Lost Crusade.
The Tattered Banner
With the Battered Helm equipped, complete a Barricade Road Battle to obtain the Tattered Banner, a combat item.
The Unique Reliquary
The next step must be completed in The Tangle. Use the Tattered Banner on a Bishop of the Lost Battalion to acquire the Unique Reliquary, a deliverable item.
Ensure that the party is prepared for a difficult fight beforehand—the Tattered Banner grants the Bishop significant buffs that last for the entire combat encounter:
- +50% Max
HP - +50% DMG
- +3
Benediction (Turn Start)
The Sanctified Scroll
Deliver the Unique Reliquary to the Inn to obtain the Sanctified Scroll, a Stagecoach Item. The party will also receive the following buffs for 1 region:
- +5%
RES per Negative Token - +5% DMG RES per Positive Token
The Rumour of Riches

Equipping the Sanctified Scroll will unlock a special option at the next Assistance Encounter. Choose this option to receive the Rumour of Riches, a unique currency item.
The Blessed Blade
At the Hoarder, the Rumour of Riches may be exchanged for the Blessed Blade, a deliverable item.
The Helm & Blade
At the next Inn, the Blessed Blade will be combined with the Battered Helm to form the Helm & Blade, another trophy item. Mount this item on the Stagecoach to proceed to the final stage of the quest.
The Warlord
When the new trophy is equipped, the Oblivion's Ingress at the end of the next region will be replaced by a special encounter, The Caged Knight, in which the party will confront the Warlord mini-boss. Defeating the Warlord will unlock the Crusader as a playable character.
Strategy
It is tricky, but possible, to complete the entire quest during a single expedition. At minimum the party must traverse three Regions, the first of which must be The Tangle—this is only possible from the second Confession onwards, as the first Confession only contains two regions.
