The Highwayman is one of 14 Heroes in Darkest Dungeon II. He is unlocked at the start of the game.
Befitting his class description, Highwayman is a versatile hero capable of playing in any rank and fulfilling several different roles as needed on a team. Highwayman has a moveset that is exceptionally rank flexible, and is capable of hitting most enemy ranks from almost any rank himself. His most unique traits are his Riposte, and the ability to steal enemy tokens, providing something that few other heroes would be able to, and can allow him to easily disrupt and weaken enemies that could otherwise prove more difficult or dangerous to deal with. Highwayman is excellent at adapting to a variety of teams, and can slot well into most comps rather easily due to his excellent choices of paths and versatile skillset

Trivia
- The Highwayman is one of the twelve Heroes returning from Darkest Dungeon, and one of the first nine Heroes to be available in the sequel.[1]
- The Highwayman's default name is a reference to penitent thief crucified next to Jesus of Nazareth, traditionally known in the Catholic tradition as Dismas.
- There are several unused story sketches related to the Highwayman which depicts some parts of his past.
- The sketch of Dismas eating a rat seems to be the origin of the Rat Skull trinket.
