Implication is a Pillager enemy in Darkest Dungeon II.

Description

Implication is a slow, massive cannon capable of dealing large amounts of damage to the entire party. Its offensive power is somewhat mitigated by the fact that it must reload between each shot, giving Heroes time to prepare—and that it often misses its shots. Defensively, not only does Implication have a high HP HP and immunity to Damage over Time Damage over Time effects, but it also regularly generates Block+ Block+ tokens that greatly reduce damage from direct attacks.

Skills

The further back Implication is in the enemy ranks, the more heroes its attacks will target.

Strategy

It is prudent to kill Implication's allies first for the following reasons:

  1. Block+ Block+ tokens and immunity to Damage over Time Damage over Time effects make Implication difficult to kill quickly.
  2. Its attacks will hit more heroes the further back it is, so killing its allies (or pushing them back, or pulling Implication forward) can greatly reduce its damage.

Once its allies are dealt with, Implication should fall easily to the party's attacks.

Trivia

  • Implication's appearance and behaviour resemble the Brigand Pounder boss from the first game, and its name is a reference to the Ancestor's description of the Brigand Pounder as a "war machine of terrible implication".
  • Cannons resembling Implication may be seen in the background whilst traveling through The Tangle, suggesting that soldiers of Lost Battalion once used similar weapons.
