The Cabin Boy is a Fisherfolk enemy in Darkest Dungeon II.

Description

Like most Fisherfolk, the Cabin Boy appears to be an amalgamation of human and marine body parts.

While the Cabin Boy itself is relatively harmless, if not killed it will quickly transform into another random Fisherfolk. The transformed enemy will carry the Cabin Boy's unique Newborn Mutation Newborn Mutation token, granting them a number of powerful offensive and defensive buffs.

After use of Spawning Ground, the transformed enemy receives:

  • +25% DMG, +2 Speed and 33% to gain Block On Hit
  • Duration: Until end of combat
  • Limit: 1

Strategy

The Cabin Boy is relatively fragile, and it is advisable to kill them quickly—there is a notable difference between continuing a fight with one fewer enemy, versus a fight with a fully-healed and much more dangerous one. The Fisherfolk that the Cabin Boy transforms into is more or less random, with the only determining factor being how many spaces are available on the enemy team. If there is only one space available, it will always become a size 1 enemy (Captain, Fish Monger, Bosun, or Wharf Rat) but if there are two spaces available (including if a spot is taken up by a corpse) it will have a chance to transform into a Docker.
